Purpose of the RoleThe CNS Hub Assistant Volunteer plays an important role in creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for visitors using the hub. Volunteers assist with day-to-day hub activities, offer practical support to visitors, provide information about available services and activities, and help ensure the hub runs smoothly.Key ResponsibilitiesWelcome visitors, service users, carers, and professionals in a friendly and professional manner.Provide information about hub activities, services, groups, and community resources.Assist visitors with signing in and directing them to the appropriate area, activity, or member of staff.Support the setup and tidying of hub spaces before and after activities and events.Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment.Assist with preparing refreshments when required.Encourage social interaction and help visitors feel included and supported.Provide a listening ear and offer reassurance within the boundaries of the volunteer role.Support staff with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, distributing information, or preparing resources.Promote confidentiality and respect for all visitors.Report any concerns, safeguarding issues, accidents, or incidents to a member of staff promptly.Follow organisational policies, procedures, and health and safety guidance.Skills and QualitiesWe are looking for volunteers who are:Friendly, approachable, and welcoming.Reliable, punctual, and dependable.Good communicators with strong listening skills.Respectful of diversity and committed to treating everyone fairly.Able to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.Comfortable working as part of a team and independently when required.Willing to learn and undertake training relevant to the role.Patient, empathetic, and supportive towards people with a range of needs and experiences.Time CommitmentFlexible volunteering opportunities available.A regular commitment is preferred to provide consistency for hub users.Minimum hours to be agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator.Training and SupportVolunteers will receive:Role-specific induction and training.Ongoing support and supervision.Access to relevant learning and development opportunities.Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with organisational policy.Benefits of VolunteeringGain valuable experience working within a community support setting.Develop communication, administration, and customer service skills.Meet new people and become part of a supportive team.Make a positive difference to the lives of local people.Enhance confidence and wellbeing through volunteering.Volunteer CommitmentAs a CNS Hub Assistant Volunteer, you will:Treat all visitors with dignity, respect, and compassion.Maintain confidentiality at all times.Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies.Represent the organisation positively within the community.Notify the Volunteer Co-ordinator if unable to attend an agreed volunteering session.
