We are looking for a committed and customer‑focused individual to join our Business Systems Team as a Business Systems Support Officer (SystmOne). This role provides essential first‑line support to Public Health Nursing (PHN) practitioners using the TPP SystmOne and CarePlus clinical systems.
You will play a key part in ensuring practitioners can record, report and manage information accurately by responding to system‑related queries, resolving routine issues, escalating more complex problems, and maintaining a clear audit trail of actions taken. This is an important role in supporting safe and consistent clinical recording across PHN services, helping staff with varying levels of digital confidence.
Full training will be provided, and you will work as part of a supportive team that maintains core PHN systems, contributes to the improvement of recording practices, and assists with statutory and regulatory preparation work (including CQC and statutory returns).
In this role, you will:
- Provide first‑line support to PHN practitioners using SystmOne and CarePlus, resolving routine issues and escalating more complex problems appropriately.
- Maintain accurate audit trails of all helpdesk activity, ensuring clarity, accountability and consistency.
- Work closely with the Business Systems Manager and wider team during periods such as CQC preparation and statutory returns, supporting data‑quality and system‑tidy work.
- Assist with routine administration of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems used by the service.
- Contribute to the development of user guides and basic training resources to support good recording practice.
- Identify patterns in recording issues and highlight concerns to the Business Systems Manager or senior system specialists.
- Support effective communication across the service by helping practitioners understand common issues and how to resolve them.
- Recognise the limits of the role — escalating analytical work or system faults that require specialist investigation.
- Provide excellent customer service, supporting colleagues with varying levels of IT literacy in a patient, clear and respectful manner.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in an administrative role supporting core business processes.
- Understands or has experience using Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems.
- Has strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to explain issues clearly to others.
- Can work collaboratively and build trust with a wide range of colleagues.
- Is able to maintain accurate audit trails, follow guidance and meet helpdesk response targets.
- Communicates confidently and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Is adaptable, organised and able to manage changing priorities.
- Has good IT skills, including experience with Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Holds NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
- Is committed to continuous learning and development.
What we offer
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- A friendly and supportive team environment.
- Full training in SystmOne, CarePlus and PHN recording processes.
- Opportunities to develop your skills in system support, data quality and digital services.
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
- A generous annual leave entitlement.
- The opportunity to support frontline practitioners and contribute to improving outcomes for children and families across Devon.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jonny Etherington, PHN Business Systems Manager via email at [email protected].
