If you have an interest in software development and enjoy solving problems, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll need a good understanding of software development fundamentals and technologies such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and SQL. We will provide the training and support you need to quickly become a skilled and confident low-code developer.

You’ll work with modern digital platforms including OutSystems, helping to deliver digital services used by colleagues, residents and partners across Devon. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to innovative projects involving automation, APIs and emerging AI technologies that are transforming the way local government delivers services.

The role

• The Junior Software Developer will be part of a development team designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining digital services that meet the needs of users.
• You’ll work together with other team members and the wider organisation, developing software features at a fast pace using a market leading low-code development platform.
• You’ll support innovative projects involving automation, AI-powered services and digital transformation.

About you

• You’ll have a good understanding of the end-to-end process for developing software, and practical experience of using common programming languages.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate that you can work in a dynamic team characterised by rapid change and understand the importance of user needs in software development.
• You’ll be enthusiastic about developing new technical skills, particularly in low-code development platforms such as OutSystems. You’ll be curious about emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation and modern software development practices.
