Help shape an inclusive learning service across Devon
At Learn Devon, we support a diverse range of learners across the county, delivering adult and community learning, employability programmes, English and maths, study programmes, online learning and targeted support for learners with additional needs.
We’re looking for an organised, detail-focused and passionate individual to join our SEND team as an Assistant SENCO.
Working closely with the SENCO, you’ll play a key role in ensuring learners receive the specialist support they need to thrive, while making sure the systems, records and processes behind that support are accurate, compliant and effective.
About the role
This is primarily a coordination, monitoring and administration role, supporting high-quality SEND provision across Learn Devon.
You’ll help ensure that:
- Learners’ support needs are identified, recorded and reviewed.
- Learning Support Plans are accurate, up to date and effective.
- Learner Support Funding claims are processed accurately and on time.
- Progress, interventions and support arrangements are monitored and reviewed.
A significant part of the role also involves working closely with exams colleagues to coordinate access arrangements, ensuring assessments, evidence and paperwork are completed efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about people and believes everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their potential.
You’ll spend much of your time talking with learners, tutors, parents, carers, support workers and external professionals, helping to ensure that needs are identified, support is in place and learners receive the right help at the right time.
You will:
- Be passionate about inclusion and making a difference.
- Enjoy working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
- Have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Enjoy working with data, systems and detailed processes.
- Have strong attention to detail and take pride in getting things right.
- Be confident building positive relationships and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Be able to balance empathy and understanding with effective monitoring and organisation.
While there will be opportunities to work directly with learners and provide occasional cover for Learning Support staff, the focus of the role is supporting the SENCO to ensure robust processes, accurate records and effective tracking of learner support across the service.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to help deliver an inclusive learning service that supports learners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities across Devon.
Behind every learner who succeeds is a team ensuring the right support is in place. As Assistant SENCO, you’ll help ensure no learner slips through the gaps, support is delivered effectively and every individual is given the opportunity to thrive.
If you’re passionate about helping people, enjoy working with detail and want to make a genuine difference to learners across Devon, we’d love to hear from you.
