Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
I am a man in my mid 60’s. I am mobile and can walk short distance fine, however I do have a wheelchair in case my knees ache and I feel start to feel unsteady on my feet. I live in a two bedroomed bungalow which has a ramp access to my home at the front and there I is a back door which a step to exit the property. I have 24-hour support by one staff member; they do long day sleeps. They support me with all aspects of daily living including household chores, cooking, shopping, attending appointments and arranging my finances I can, at times express behaviours that challenges, but I usually calm down if I am left on my own in my bedroom, I come out of my own accord. I would need you to respect my space and that I like time on my own and do not want staff to keep coming in my bedroom, this is my space. My staff work from 10am till 11pm, they do a long day, then they go to bed for a sleepover and finish the next day at 10am. I only have one staff member supporting me at a time.
These shifts work well with me, as if I go out, I prefer to go out after lunch.
