As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas. You will assist with basic food preparation, equipment care, and ensure the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
Main Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Hygiene:
• Clean all designated areas as outlined by the Head Chef and the department’s cleaning schedule.
• Ensure all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment are kept clean, sanitised, and clutter-free throughout the shift.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchenware manually and using the dishwasher.
• Handle all crockery, cutlery, and glassware with care and store them neatly and safely.
• Ensure bins are emptied regularly and waste is disposed of correctly.
Kitchen Support:
• Assist with basic food preparation as directed by the kitchen team.
• Support the kitchen team during busy periods to ensure smooth service.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, tidy, and ready for the next shift at the end of each day.
Equipment & Maintenance:
• Maintain proper use and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
• Report any maintenance or equipment issues immediately to the Head Chef or Duty Manager.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, including COSHH and food safety regulations.
Deliveries & Stock
• Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly and safely.
• Enter data accurately and promptly into the Riskproof (due diligence) system.
Additional Duties:
• Occasionally assist the front-of-house team with meeting room setups, deliveries, clear-downs, and maintaining service equipment.
• Adhere to all site-specific health and safety systems, including loading bay procedures.
