Overview Job Title: Associate Editor Brand: GP Business Reporting To: Editor Location: Twickenham, Greater London Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days working remotely Employment: Permanent, Full-Time Salary Range: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum ABOUT THE JOB Working within GP Business GP Business is the leading source of practical management, financial and contractual advice for GP partners, practice managers and primary care leaders. As part of the MIMS Healthcare Network, GP Business supports healthcare professionals with trusted editorial content that helps them navigate the evolving primary care landscape. As primary care continues to evolve, GP Business is expanding its editorial focus to engage a broader audience, including leaders across Primary Care Networks (PCNs), GP Federations, neighbourhood teams and wider NHS management. The Role The Associate Editor plays a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of GP Business by creating high-quality editorial content across multiple channels. Working closely with the Editor, you will commission, write and edit engaging content that informs and supports both existing readers and emerging audiences within primary care leadership. You will contribute to the editorial direction of the brand, identify new content opportunities and help ensure GP Business remains a trusted source of insight across the sector. The role requires strong editorial judgement, excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to translate complex healthcare policy, finance and operational issues into clear, engaging content across written, audio and video formats. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Research, commission, write and edit high-quality editorial content, ensuring accuracy, balance and delivery to agreed deadlines. Develop engaging content for multiple platforms, including the website, newsletters, podcasts, webinars, video and social media. Build and maintain strong relationships with contributors, healthcare professionals and key industry stakeholders. Identify emerging trends, policy developments and commercial opportunities to inform editorial planning. Produce insightful commentary and analysis on developments affecting primary care leadership. Support the planning and delivery of the GP Business editorial strategy alongside the Editor. Manage content publishing across digital channels, ensuring content is optimised for audience engagement. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the MIMS Healthcare Network to identify opportunities for shared content, audience growth and editorial innovation. Contribute ideas that enhance audience engagement, digital performance and the continued development of the brand. Represent GP Business professionally at industry events, interviews and multimedia productions where appropriate. Key Relationships Work closely with the Editor of GP Business to develop your knowledge and skills, while building strong relationships with the wider medical editorial team, particularly GPonline, to share ideas, develop contacts and collaborate on high-quality content that supports the wider MIMS Healthcare Network. Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE Knowledge Understanding of the NHS, healthcare policy and the primary care landscape is desirable, with an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing healthcare professionals and organisations. Interest in healthcare management, leadership, finance and policy, with the ability to quickly develop subject matter expertise in complex or technical topics. Awareness of the evolving digital media landscape and how audiences consume content across multiple channels. Understanding of editorial standards, media law and publishing best practice, including accuracy, impartiality and copyright. Knowledge of content performance metrics and audience insights would be advantageous. Skills Excellent writing, editing and commissioning skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for professional audiences. Strong editorial judgement and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring consistently high standards of quality, accuracy and consistency. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders, contributors and subject matter experts. Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines and editorial workflows effectively. Ability to interpret complex policy documents, reports, research and data, translating technical information into accessible, relevant and engaging content. Digital-first mindset, with an understanding of SEO, audience engagement, content optimisation, social media best practice and the creation of multimedia content, including podcasts, webinars, video and live events. Analytical approach to using audience insights and performance data to inform editorial decisions and continuously improve content effectiveness. Collaborative, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to work independently, contribute ideas and respond effectively to changing priorities and emerging industry developments. Experience Experience in an editorial, journalism or content creation role, ideally within healthcare, business, B2B or professional publishing. Experience researching, writing, commissioning and editing high-quality content across a range of digital and multimedia formats. Experience commissioning and managing external contributors, freelancers or subject matter experts. Experience producing content for professional or specialist audiences, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and engagingly. Experience publishing digital content using content management systems (CMS), with an understanding of audience engagement and content performance metrics. Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contributing to podcasts, webinars, video content or live events would be advantageous.
